An International Airline Training Centre
Bandar
Seri Begawan – The current technology owned by Royal Brunei
Airlines has enabled it to offer in-house training to pilots from
major international airlines, besides local trained trainees.
Most
training were done at the Royal Brunei Technical Centre Berakas.
Trainings
to enhance flight skills are done in a simulator.
In
procedure, future pilots are required to do field work, which includes
visiting aircrafts before moving out to the simulator.
They
must then undergo a further 56 hours in full flight training for three
to four months but even a certified and experienced pilots must
undergo a mandatory refresher course every six months for safety
reasons.
The
Permanent Secretary of Communications, Dato Paduka Haji Abdullah and
some senior officials from the ministry scrutinized this technological
achievement of RBA during a visit to the Simulator Section of the
Technical Centre.
Here,
the Manager Jacob Lim before taken on board to the simulator gave them
a briefing.
At
present there are pilots from seven European Best Airlines taking
refresher courses and flight training at the Technical Centre.
It
is an attempt by Royal Brunei Airlines to boost both the country’s
international image and its source of revenue.
