Small
And Medium Enterprises Vital, Says Minister

Seri Begawan – Small and Medium Enterprises( SMEs) are
increasingly crucial, vital and integral to the business
communities’ contribution to the economic health of the community as
whole.
Therefore
their growth should be seen as a continuous and sustainable process.
The
Minister of Industry and Primary Resources, Dato Awang Haji Abdul
Rahman, made the remarks at the joint opening ceremony of the business
forum E-Trade Fare and E-Commerce Workshop.
Dato
Awang Haji Abdul Rahman added that programmes are designed to help
SMEs.
Assistance
should be provided in specific technical areas and continue to support
the growth process in order to ensure sustainable SME Development.
The
minister also touched on the changes of the business landscape both in
the public and private sectors made by advances information and
communication technologies.
According
to him, in the public sector, it will facilitate more effective and
efficient business transactions.
As for SMEs, those technologies promised to be great equalizers in
promoting their services on a global scale.
After
the opening ceremony, the minister then toured the E-Trade Fare.
The
fare is opened to the public as from today until the 25th
of this month from 9am until 6pm.
Sixty
companies are participating in the eight-day fare.
