Arts With Local Artists
By Zal Zaini
Bandar Seri
Begawan - A group of 12 Indonesian painters yesterday afternoon
shared the success and development of arts in their country with
Bruneian artists at the Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) in
Berakas.
According to the event's coordinator,
Zakaria Omar, it was aimed at exchanging ideas on the history, growth
and techniques of arts that have long been adopted by the two
countries.
Soegeng
Toekio delivered an interesting presentation on the development of
Indonesian paintings.
Sumadi
Sukaimi, Acting Director of Language and Literature Bureau, hoped that
by organising such a meeting, Bruneian artists could learn and explore
new ideas from their Indonesian counterparts.
He further added that such
cooperation should be enhanced to benefit both nations in the fields
of culture and arts.
The Indonesian painters are here in
Brunei to hold a painting exhibition entitled `Pesona Indonesia' or
Fascinating Indonesia. It is part of the activities to commemorate the
