Soldier Fined $300 For Urinating In Public

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 21-year-old soldier was fined $300 or faces four weeks behind bars in default after having admitted to urinating in a public place on two occasions before the Bandar Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Private Mursidi Murni pleaded guilty to a first charge of committing nuisance by easing himself (urinating) near a drain outside the Nursing College Hostel at Kg Lambak Kanan on April 25 last year at around 5 pm and on another occasion at around 5.30 pm on April 28 last year at the same place.

Prosecuting Officer Lt. Col. Hj Harif Hj Ibrahim told the court that Mursidi was caught urinating at the college compound by an occupant at the hostel, who was hanging her clothes up to dry on the balcony on April 25, 2003. The girl quickly reported the matter to her friends.

Later, on April 28, 2003, the defendant went to the hostel area again. However, this time he was in his military attire and urinated near a drain at the hostel compound.
