Smoker For Three Decades Shows The
Way To Quit Smoking
Bandar Seri
Begawan – Most smokers think it is simply too hard for them to
kick the habit. But a smoker for three decades believes and proves to
anyone that it is possible to quit smoking.
Radio Television Brunei (RTB) brings
you the experience of a heavy smoker who has made up his mind to quit.
Awang
Kipli bin Haji Nordin has been smoking for almost 30 years.
He says he regularly smokes a packet
a day, and can even smoke up to three packs. But just recently, he has
decided to give up this habit.
It has not been long since Awang
Kipli decided to quit smoking and says that the craving to smoke is
still present but he remains determined not to start smoking again.
And it seems as though his
determination has paid off.
He already feels healthier and more
alert.
Unlike before when he was smoking, he
used to fall asleep while driving.
Awang
Kipli also raises an interesting point.
As cigarette manufacturers mix over
4000 dangerous chemicals into each cigarette, people still continue to
spend money on them, some even going to greater lengths just to
satisfy a craving.
He said the manufacturers only care
about making money and never care about people’s health.
It's the smoker who gets sick from
smoking not the manufacturers.
From his experience, Awang Kipli
wants people to know that it is possible to quit smoking even after 30
years.
He cited many ways to giving up
smoking ranging from taking medication or sweets for a change to
simply saying ‘No’ to smoking for the sake of being healthy.
Praise should be given to Awang Kipli
for making his declaration so publicly.
He pledged to quit smoking in front
of the Minister of Health, at the start of the "30 Days Without
Cigarettes" campaign.
Awang
Kipli said he wants to make himself an example that it is never too
soon to quit smoking. --
