JAPEM marks Maulidur Rasul

Chief guest giving the prize to a winning group's representative in the Dzikir Syarafil Anam competition.

JAPEM or The Community Development Department under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports yesterday morning held a ceremony marking Maulidur Rasul celebrations for the year 1425H/2004.

Present as chief guest was the Director of Community Development, Datin Hjh Zaliha Hj Mohiddin. The ceremony began with welcoming remarks delivered by Pg Hj Merali Pg Hj Bostamam.

Among programmes lined up for the ceremony were the Dzikir Syarafil Anam competition for residents of welfare houses under the department and the Dzikir Marhaban contest among its officials and personnel.

Eleven groups, eight of whom were female, competed in the Dzikir Syarafil Anam. Emerging as the champion was Al- Ameerah with a 90 per cent sore, followed by Rabiatul Adawiyah with 89.5 per cent and As-Solehah in third place with 86 per cent.

This function, which took place at the Multi-Purpose Hall at the Welfare Houses Complex in Kampong Pulaie, also witnessed the presentation of prizes to residents with outstanding achievements in PSR and PMB examinations.
