Exploration Camp.
Sixty students aged between 9 and 11,
participated in a two-days, one-night Exploration Camp organised by
the Seria Oil and Gas Discovery Centre (OGDC).
The Exploration Camp, which commenced
yesterday morning, will end today with a special prize and certificate
presentation for the students' exemplary leadership quality,
outstanding creativity and talent. Participants who displayed
creativity and gave the best performance on assigned projects would
also be presented with prizes.
The Exploration Camp, organised
during the school holiday, aimed to inculcate young children with a
love of science through play and exploration. Children mostly from the
Belait District participated in the camp.
During the ice-breaking session, the
"Young Explorers" were asked to name their own team, design a flag or
logo and elect leaders to present the interpretation of the logo. A
puppet-show competition and a technology challenge were scheduled as
part of the night activities. Previous exploration camps have managed
to create interest and knowledge among participants in the field of
science.
The participants were also exposed to
leadership skills and the importance of teamwork as well as
discussion, planning and executing skills.
