Crocodile In Belait Hut:
Anyone Home?
By Azlan Othman
Kuala Belait
- When a crocodile was caught on camera entering a hut along
the Belait River, the picture was forwarded to the public via
e-mails, reminding them about the danger it may pose if the reptile
were to enter their homes.
It was a thought that no one could
bear.
The most recent sighting was a
10-foot crocodile at Kampong Pandan Recreational Lagoon, captured on
camera by two teenagers who were in the area to snap pictures of the
beautiful scenery last Thursday afternoon.
The reptile was spotted basking on
the tracks of the park, with jaws wide open, presumably waiting for
food.
Residents in the area voiced their
concerns, as it was not the first crocodile sighting on the
pathways.
In recent years, the reptile was
also spotted in Anduki Park, Kampong Layong and Kampong Pengkalan
Batu.
When flooding hit several Tutong
villages recently, crocodiles were seen swimming in the areas. -- Courtesy
