Construction Of New House For
Dayang Ainah

Begawan - A ceremony to erect a pillar for the new assistance
house of Dayang Ainah binti Lajim was held at the construction site
yesterday at Kg Selayun.
The highlight of the ceremony was
the pouring of cement into the pillar of the new house by Dato
Paduka Haji Ali Hashim bin Haji Daud, Managing Director of Sultan
Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation; Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yussop bin
Bakar, Brunei-Muara District Officer; Awang Said bin Haji Sirat, a
representative from Community Development; and Haji Abdul Aziz bin
Haji Akup, Acting Deputy Secretary Majlis Ugama Islam Brunei.
The cost of building the new house
is funded jointly by the Brunei-Muara District Office, Majlis Ugama
Islam Brunei and Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation and
Community Development Department. It is estimated to be around
B$43,000.
Dayang Ainah binti Lajim is a widow
who depends only on her elderly pension allowance and food aid from
the Brunei Islamic Religion Council for a living.
Her current house is in bad state.
The construction of the new house
began last June and is expected to be completed by the end of
September 2008.
The construction of houses to the
needy is intended top give them the opportunity to live in a
comfortable, clean and safe places so as to create a peaceful and
harmonious living with families.
Among others, the endeavour is one
of the efforts to promote the welfare of the people living in Brunei
