Khatam Al-Quran For Primary Students

Bandar Seri Begawan - Pengiran Muda Abdul Malik Religious School yesterday held a Khatam al-Quran for 68 of its students in a bid to encourage them to continue reading the Quran long after they have graduated.

Held at the school, the event was participated by students of Primary II, III, IV and V. The day opened with an al-Fatihah mass recital led by Kampong Bengkurong Village Head cum guest of honour Haji Mohd Zain bin Haji Mohammad and was followed by an al-Quran recital by the participants.

Later, a khatam participant read the doa khatam, before the Dikir `Ya Manhadar' was recited by the male students.

The day also saw the guest of honour sprinkling `bunga rampai' on the students before presenting them with their certificates.

The event concluded with a doa selamat led by Abd Hadi bin Haji Zainin. The khatam al-Quran is an annual activity held to enhance teamwork and unity amongst parents, teachers and students. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
