Community Urged To Abide By Road
Regulations

Bandar Seri
Begawan - Traffic congestion during school and office hours
have long posed a major headache to road users in the Sultanate
especially during lunch time when parents rush to either send or
fetch their children from school.
The Police Traffic department has
made every effort to help smoothen the flow of traffic by
dispatching their police traffic personnel to every congested school
area despite whatever weather conditions. While such efforts are
appreciated, cooperation from the public is also needed to control
the traffic congestion.
Although certain reasonable facts
are acceptable such as having limited parking or space in the
vicinity of the institution, violation of road regulations and laws
should not be an alternative option for these road users.
Unfortunately, we can still see
motorists in the heart of the capital near the vicinity of several
private schools using these 'prohibited' areas as a waiting spot for
dropping and picking up students whilst ignoring the warnings
displayed on the roads or the 'no parking' signs and cones erected
along the sides of the road by police officers thus increasing the
ever-worsening situation of the traffic congestion. This situation
not only occurs in the capital but in various areas around the
country as well.
It is hoped that the public will
cooperate in the efforts to minimise the flow of traffic along
educational institutions and office buildings. -- Courtesy of Borneo
