Bandar Spruced Up For Royal
Birthday

Begawan - The capital Bandar Seri Begawan has been spruced up
in time to celebrate the 62nd birthday of His Majesty the Sultan and
Yang Di-Pertuan Brunei Darussalam on July 15.
All roads leading to the capital
are undergoing a transformation with decorations such as banners and
neon lights being put up.
Congratulatory arches are being
erected at various strategic places.
The roundabouts in Beribi and
Kiulap have also been decorated with ornamental lights in
preparation for the celebration next week.
Workers were seen giving a fresh
coat of paint on fences along the streets of Jalan Tutong too.
Taman
Haji Sir Muda OmarAli Saifuddien, the celebration's central venue on
July 15, as well as places in and around the capital have also been
decorated.
People from all walks of life have
started to walk around the Taman at night to get a feel of the
celebrations.
His Majesty's birthday celebration
is eagerly awaited by not only the ordinary people, who are looking
forward to the cultural and sport activities that will take place
during the celebration.
Small traders such as hawkers and
stall operators are also looking forward to the two-week
celebration.
The traders can expect a good
income as the Taman and the other celebration sites will be packed
with locals and foreign visitors.
Just like last year, many
interesting activities will be held, including performances by the
public and private sector, students and non-governmental
