Wildlife Exhibition Seeks To
Change People's Mindset
By Liza Mohd
Kuala Belait
- One of the highlights of the Agri-food festival in Belait
is the wildlife exhibition organised by LTS Mini Zoo. Over 15
different species of snakes, tortoises, lizards and crocodile are on
display.
During yesterday's launching
ceremony, visitors seized the opportunity to have photos taken with
an eight-foot Burmese python and an 18-foot python.
According to General Manager Awg Md
Mharvin bin Md Louis, this was the first time the mini zoo was
participating in an exhibition. He explained that the main objective
was to change people's mindset about reptiles. "Not all reptiles are
dangerous," he said.
Md
Mharvin said that all snakes displayed in the exhibition area are
non-venomous. Most of the reptiles and amphibians are from the zoo,
while the rest are his friend's pets. He hoped that the exhibition
will encourage more people to keep exotic pets. -- Courtesy of Borneo
