Entrepreneurship Talk Offers Hope To Youth

Bandar Seri Begawan - The founding Editor-in-Chief and publisher of Azizah Magazine, Ms Tayyibah Taylor, yesterday was the guest speaker at an entrepreneurship talk, an event jointly hosted by Live WIRE Brunei and the Embassy of the United States of America.

Azizah Magazine is a well-established company that specifically focuses on the issues facing Muslim communities in America.

Ms Taylor has conducted many talks in various regions of the world, exhibiting her passion for spirituality, dialogue and journalism.

She has conducted lectures at national and international conferences such as the Society of Professional Journalists Conference, The Harvard Divinity School's Islam in America Conference, the Belgian-US Muslim Dialogue, the Lecture Series at the Women's College of Syariah and Law of the International Islamic University of Islamabad, Pakistan, and the 2006 WISE conference in New York City.

Ms Taylor has worked on several inter-faith initiatives and has travelled to Turkey, Spain, Morocco, Jerusalem and Greece.

Yesterday's talk focused on Ms Taylor sharing her experiences, her journey and giving encouragement for the next generation to pursue their passion and dreams and in sharing it through business and entrepreneurship efforts.

More than 50 people attended the talk, comprising foreign diplomatic delegates, government officials, members of the Live WIRE Business Network and those from private and public sectors involved in the area of Business Development and in support of SMEs.

Also in attendance were the Ambassador of the United States of America to Brunei, Mr Emil Skodon and the Programme Director of Live WIRE Brunei, Pg Redzuan bin Pg Haji Abbas.

The jointly-held seminar is part of the continuous effort to support future entrepreneurs, especially LiveWIRE Brunei Business Network members, to become more active in business participation and to encourage them to share their experiences, 4s well as to gain knowledge from other international business experiences.

LiveWIRE Brunei is an organisation sponsored by Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) and is part of the BSP social investment programme to contribute back to the community and diversify the economy of Brunei Darussalam through encouraging youth to enter business and entrepreneurship. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
