Bandar Seri

teachers from Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Nursery School.
Among the young visitors was the
monarch's grandson, YAM Pengiran Anak Abdul Raqiib bin YAM Pengiran
Maharaja Setia Laila Diraj a Sahibul Irshad PengiranAnakHajiAbdul
Rahim.
On hand to welcome the visiting
group of 60 students and seven teachers was Department of Fisheries
Deputy Director Abdul Halidi bin Mohd Salleh.
The educational trip aimed to serve
as a practical lesson on the topics the students learn in the
classroom, and at the same time, expose them to the places of
interests in Brunei Darussalam.
The trip - part of yearly
activities held by the school - enlightened the young ones on the
types of turtle species found here.
Three different types of species
were documented to have landed in Brunei, namely, the Green Turtle,
the Hawksbill Turtle and the Olive Ridley.
The visitors then heard a briefing
before embarking on a guided tour of the turtle hatchery.
Understanding the importance and
ensuring this treasure of the sea does not become extinct; the
Fisheries Department has and will continue the turtle management and
conservation programme and activities. This includes the turtle
hatchery and release of turtles programme, as well as raising and
promoting awareness on turtles. -- Courtesy of Borneo
