RBAF Commander Receives Pakistani Military Medal

Bandar Seri Begawan - Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi was conferred Pakistan's Hilal-eImtiaz (Military) Medal by General Ehsan-ul-Haq, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, on behalf of the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, General Pervez Musharraf during an investiture ceremony held at Joint Staff Headquarters Chaklala, Pakistan on June 28, 2006.

The prestigious Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military) was awarded to Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi in recognition of the significant role he has played in forging excellent defence ties between the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and the Pakistan Armed Forces.

A Pakistan news statement said that his personal endeavours have further cemented relations and enhanced the mutual cooperation between the two armed forces.

Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi is the seventh Bruneian to hold the post of the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces. He has been holding the post since March 2003. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
