Tutong Monument For Sultan's
Birthday

Tutong
- The Tutong District Office yesterday received more than
$22,000 from sponsors for the construction of a monument (Area) as
well as decorations to celebrate His Majesty the Sultan and Yang
Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's 60th birthday.
Awang
Mutalib bin Haji Md ldris, Tutong District Officer, was the guest of
honour receiving the sponsorships in a ceremony at the Main Hall of
Kompleks Dewan Kemasyarakat.
Awang
Mutalib conveyed his thanks and appreciation to the sponsors for their
continuous support.
The monument which has been
completed, is expected to be unveiled by His Majesty during the
get-together with the community of Tutong District on July 17, 2006,
he revealed. Awang Mutalib added that the construction of the monument
in Tutong District with the theme "Bangsaku Negaraku Teguh Bersatu",
represented the people's love and adoration for His Majesty.
The sponsorships were received from
various government agencies, schools, private companies and
individuals in the district. Among the contributors are BLNQ
Perusahaan Ala Haji Bolhassan, sawmill companies in Tutong and the
residents from the eight 'mukims' of Tutong District.
Construction work is being carried
out around the Dewan Kemasyarakatan Tutong building and field in
preparation for His Majesty's 60th birthday celebrations.
Rehearsals for a mass cultural
performance are also held. The participants of the grand show are
members of the community, students and associations of Tutong
District.
A number of activities have also been
arranged for the celebration of His Majesty's birthday. According to
Haji Haris Bin Othman, Assistant Tutong District Officer, more than
20,000 people are expected to turn up to pay tribute to His Majesty at
the get-together on July 17.
During the ceremony, there will be
numerous cultural shows as well as an exhibition by more than 35
organisations from the public and private sectors and NGOs.
To be held at the Padang Kompleks
Kemasyarakat Tutong District, the get-together will give the people of
the district the chance to greet His Majesty in person. --
