DPMM FC And Tampines Rover Win
By Alex How
Bandar Seri
Begawan – DPMM FC scored a dramatic 2-1 win over Finance &
Revenue of Myanmar while Singapore's Tampines Rover FC defeated
Tobacco FC of Thailand 3-1 in the AFF Club Championship 2005 at the
Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium last night.
Rosmin
bin Hj Kamis scored the winning goal for DPMM FC in the dying seconds
of the game. Finance & Revenue's Kyaw Thu-Ra scored the first goal in
the 37th minute but a minute before half time, Goran Vujanovic cheered
the sea of supporters in red when he put DPMM FC back into the game
with a fine goal.
Tampines
Rover, the Singapore S-League champions started the `game vigorously
to look for an early goal. It was Mirko Grabovac who opened the
account for Tampines in the 13th minute after a lovely square pass
from Aliff Shafaein bin Safie'e.
Tampines
looking for more goals had their defender Muratovic Sead joined in the
attack. Sead tried a long shot outside the box but blasted it over the
bar.
Tampines,
however, were very much vulnerable at the back as they kept giving
away free kicks outside their own penalty box.
Tobacco's Sakda Kaewboonmee saw his
free kick hit the top of the bar and another blocked away by Tampines
prolific goalkeeper Mohd Rezal bin Hassan.
Tampines
were awarded a penalty when Grabovac was pulled down by a Tobacco
defender in the box and Sead kept his cool and converted the penalty
in the 43`d minute to take the 2-0 lead into the first half.
Despite two goals down, Tobacco
looked much lively after the break and piled on the attack to cut the
deficit. Mohd-Rezal was forced to pull out several fine saves too keep
the two goals cushion.
Tampines'
talisman Grabovac extended the lead when he headed in the third goal
for team, his second in the match, in the 64th minute after Tobacco's
keeper Sujin Naknayom misjudged a cross from Aliff Shafaein.
Sakda
gave Tobacco a glimpse of hope after he pulled one back five minutes
later to make it 3-1. Sakda's powerful shot left Mohd Rezal no chance
to parry it away to safety.
Tobacco kept their pressure on
Tampines but the Group B leader Tampines held on well to finish 3-1 to
book a place in the semifinals. --
