Wet Season Warning For Water Taxis
And Road Users

Begawan - Police have advised water taxi operators to be extra
careful when carrying passengers during the current wet season and
strong winds, especially at night.
Boat operators are urged to use
bright torchlight and not to carry passengers exceeding the boat
capacity.
This was stated yesterday by the
Police Public Relation Officer, Sgt/Major Awg Besar, who also advised
parents to use bigger boats when travelling with their children.
He also called on road users to be
alert to avoid any accidents during the current festivities.
Meanwhile, he revealed the national
crime cases for last week. Police managed to retrieve a stolen blue
Toyota Corona. Six theft cases, six cases of theft inside buildings
and three vandalism cases were recorded.
Three causing minor injury cases were
detected whereby a local was detained and a customs-related offence
was also recorded leading to the arrest of a suspect.
Twenty-four accidents were recorded
in which a person died and another sustained serious injuries. A total
of 17 accidents were recorded in the Brunei-Muara District alone,
three each in Belait and Tutong and one in Temburong. --
