DPMM FC Draw
By Dannie Abu Basrah
Bandar Seri
Begawan - DPMM FC fought back in the second half to draw 2-2
with Tobacco FC of Thailand in their opening Group B game of the AFF
Club Championship 2005 at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium last
night.
In an earlier game Tampines Rover FC
powered themselves from a goal behind to victory as they defeated
Finance & Revenue of Myanmar 2-1.
In the DPMM FC game, the host team
started the game furiously from the kickoff, making their intentions
clear as they instantly pressured the Tobacco FC goal in search of the
early killer goal.
As the game proceeded DPMM FC fell
victim on the third minute as they unfortunately conceded an Anderson
deflected goal after the Brazilian's shot went off a DPMM FC defender
and into the net after goalie Pg Hj Hamzah Pg Hj Abd Rahman dived the
wrong way to trail by a goal.
Two minutes later Saizan Hj Kula was
presented with a good goal scoring chance to level the score from five
yards but was superbly denied by Tobacco FC, goalie Sujin Naknayom
punching the ball for a corner. In the 24th minute, Anderson scored
his second of the game with a powerful left foot ground shot after
nicely being spotted unmarked in the box by Panipol Kerdyam as Tobacco
FC went 2-0 up.
Stunned with the goal, DPMM FC
continued to build up their pressure on the Thai side's goal and
finally managed to hit the back of the net when Goran Vusanovic caught
the goalie spectacularly curling in a shot with his left foot from the
right flank on the 33"d minute.
Mohd
Saiful Rizal Awang proved to be DPMM FC's saviour when he scored the
equalising goal on the 83rd minute firing the ball home from a
scramble in the Tobacco FC box that saw the-game eventually ending at
2-2.
Meanwhile in the earlier match,
Tampines Rover FC beat highly spirited Finance & Revenue 2-1 after the
Singaporean side put up a strong performance in the second half as
they managed to match the fast paced game of the Myanmar team.
Finance & Revenue drew first blood on
the 11th minute as Kyaw Thu Ra slotted the ball under goalie Mohd
Rezal Hassan to put his side in front after the goalie cleared an
initial shot straight into the unguarded Kyaw Thu Ra's path.
The goal increased their hunger for a
second as the Myanmar side displayed a dangerous attacking style of
football pressing mostly from both flanks as wingers Aung Kyaw Myint
and Kyaw Thu Ra superbly performed the task out.
Tampines
Rover FC first real chance came on the 30th minute as Mohamed Rafi's
effort hit the post after latching onto a well delivered cross by
Mirko Grabovac.
The game was back to square one three
minutes before the break as Mustafic Fahrudin sweetly volleyed home
the equaliser.
Tampines
Rover FC scored their second which proved to be the winning goals on
the 65th minute through Mirko Grabovac with a comfortable header from
a right cross delivery. --
