'Gambus' Players Compete In Cultural Night

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Cultural Section of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports organised the "Gambus Championship 2005" on Friday. The event was held in conjunction with His Majesty's 59th Birthday celebrations.

As many as 11 groups took part in the competition, which was held at the 'Perayaan' stage area in the capital, across the Royal Regalia building.

The guest of honour at the event was Awg Mohd Amin bin BPK DP Hj Sirat, Acting Special Duties Officer at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

The competition was won by the "Gambus Bukit Pantai" group. Runner-up was "Gambus Nirwana", while second runner-up went to "Gambus Nur Intan". The winning groups were awarded trophies, certificates and prize money. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
