Halal Fair
By Rosli Abidin Yahya
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Eighteen establishments in the Sultanate are set to
showcase their homemade products at the second Malaysia International
Halal Showcase (MINAS) 2005 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from July 28-31
in their bid to capitalise on the market niche.
Themed "Repositioning the Global
Halal Business", MIHAS is considered the ultimate platform to
congregate international buyers and sellers in exploring the global
spectrum such as food and beverages, cosmetics, fashion, consumables,
pharmaceuticals, publication, information technology and Islamic
capital market and financial services.
It is estimated that the trade fair -
considered a crucial exhibition by global halal industry players -
will attract more than 500 companies from 17 countries and millions of
visitors from over 35 countries.
Organised
by the Islamic Dakwah Foundation Malaysia (YADIM) with full support
from the Malaysian government, MIHAS will take place at the Malaysian
International Exhibition and Convention Centre (MIECC), Mines Resort
City in Kuala Lumpur.
The event is now on its second quest
to rally local and international entrepreneurs to explore the huge
potential that the global halal market has to offer.
Aside from the fair, there will also
be side events such as seminars and conferences, International Trade
and Business Matching Programme, and fashion show.
The MIHAS International Islamic
Fashion Show is a modem interpretation of Muslim apparels - beautiful,
creative, elegant, contemporary and modest while adhering to the
Islamic laws.
There will also be a forum and paper
presentation on halal products and trade and a discussion on global
Islamic capital market and financial services from different
perspectives.
According to the organisers, halal
industry is fast gaining worldwide recognition as a new benchmark for
safety and quality assurance.
Halal
food is highly sought after, not just by 1.5 million Muslims around
the globe, but also by people from other religions who are looking for
pure, clean food. --
