Heralding Festivities

Bandar Seri Begawan - A host of interesting programmes and activities have been lined up for this year's His Majesty's 59th Birthday celebration in all four districts.

Like in the previous years, one of the highlights and much- awaited programmes among the subjects in conjunction with the celebration, apart from the get-together session with the beloved ruler, are the fireworks display.

This year, three different fireworks displays, conducted by three different groups, will be held.

The first fireworks display will be:,hit on the night of July 15 at the compound of Istana Nurul Iman near Damuan Recreation - Park on Jalan Tutong. The Chinese community of Brunei-Muara District led by its Executive Chairman, Pehin Lau Ah Kok, will conduct the fireworks.

Its Co-Secretary, Mr. Lim Tiong Tin, said 70 different types of colourful fireworks, with it sizes from 3", 4", 5", 6" and 8 inches, will brighten up the sky.

The fireworks, imported from Sarawak and made in China, will be arriving on July 13 after receiving approval from the law agencies. The fireworks display is expected to start at 10pm.

Meanwhile, the Chinese Chamber-of Commerce will conduct another fireworks display during the four-in-one event to be held in the capital.

Celebration will be conducting another fireworks display at JPCC.

Both fireworks displays are expected to be held on the month of August.

Meanwhile, the get-together session ceremony with His Majesty's the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Negara Brunei Darussalam to be held on July 24 has been changed to July 17 at the Taman Jubli Perak Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah said Haji Jamain bin Momin. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
