Smarter Brunei Receives Donations

Begawan - The Autism Spectrum Disorder Centre, SMARTER Brunei
yesterday received a $343 donation from Sekolah Menengah Awang Semaun
and several hand-made wall dividers from Nakhoda Ragam Vocational
School.
Hajijah
Hj Moktal, Director of Administration at the centre, said the
donations from Awang Semaun Secondary School were proceeds collected
from a jogathon organised by the school.
The wall dividers from Nakhoda Ragam
Vocational School were part of the school's project in promoting
health. Present to receive the donations was Vice President of SMARTER
Brunei Hj Mohd Roslan. Earlier, he gave the school representatives an
introduction and history about the centre; what it does and aims to
achieve.
On January 13, 2003, the Autism
Spectrum Disorder Centre, SMARTER Brunei became operational, with a
focus on giving an Early Intervention Programme forAutistic Children
of members of SMARTER Brunei.
The centre aims to be a centre of
knowledge, information and system reference, education and learning,
an employment agency, self-sufficient or income generating project,
crisis intervention as well as a support group.
The centre, located in Sengkurong is
open seven days a week from Sam until IOpm for families of Autistic
children in respect to the STEP (Social, Training, Education,
Psychology) Development Programme. --
