Flag-Hoisting For Royal Birthday

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) and the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) yesterday morning held a flag-hoisting ceremony in Beribi to evoke the spirit of nationalism and patriotism as well as the love for their revered ruler and country.

Held in conjunction with His Majesty's 59th Birthday Celebration, the flag hoisting was witnessed by the Brunei Muara District Officer,'Dato Paduka Hj Adnan Hj Hanafiah, the chief guest.

The president of MCCI and NCCI, Haji Razali bin Hj Johari, said the flag-hoisting ceremony was can answer to the call by the government to fly the national flag to commemorate His Majesty's 59th Birthday.

He said the national flag must be respected, as it is a symbol of unity for the multi-racial population of this nation.

"Let us fly the national flag to show our loyalty and respect to our ruler to share our joy in celebrating His Majesty's 59th Birthday this year," he said.

Dato Paduka Hj Adnan handed over a national flag to Hj Razali who gave it to a scout member from the Berakas Secondary School for the flag hoisting ceremony.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
