Winning Dept In Dikir Competition

Bandar Seri Begawan - The team from Islamic Dakwah Centre beat ten other teams to emerge as overall champions at the recent "Dikir Syaraf lAnam (Dikir Brunei)" competition for the departments under the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

The competition was the first of its kind to be organised by the Ministry.

Twenty-two teams divided equally between the men's and women's team categories' took part in the competition final, which was held on July 3.

The men's category was won by the Mosque Affairs Department, while second place went to the Temburong Religious Office and third, the Belait Religious Office.

The Islamic Dakwah Centre meanwhile won first place in the women's category, followed by the Syariah Affairs Department in second.

Third place went to a combined team from the Islamic Eminence Development Section and Inspectorate Unit.

Present to witness the competition as guest of honour was the Minister of Religious Affairs, Pehin Dato Dr. Ustaz Hj Awg Mohd. Zain, the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Pehin Dato Ustaz Hj Awg Badaruddin, and Dato Paduka Awg Hj Abd. Rahman, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry.

At the end of the competition, the winners in the men's category received their prizes, which were presented by the Permanent Secretary.

Datin Hjh Rosnah bte Megat Ramly, wife of the Permanent Secretary meanwhile was on hand to present the prizes to the winners in the women's category.
