Goalless Draw For DPMM And AH
United
By Dannie Abu Basrah
Bandar Seri
Begawan - It was very disappointing end to a highly anticipated
match as two best Premier 1 teams in the Shell Helix B-League - DPMM
FC and AH United - played to a goalless draw at a packed Jerudong Mini
Stadium yesterday.
AH United started the game without
new signing Brian Iman Abdullah Bothwell, but immediately had DPMM FC
on the back pedal.
Their first chance at goal came in
the 4th minute when Md Shah Razen Said outpaced Florin Socaciu Olimpiu
to latch onto an Ak Salehuddin pass, but fired his shot straight at
the DPMM FC goalie.
DPMM
FC themselves were guilty of wasting a number of chances to go ahead.
Rosmin's
freekick in the 5th minute found Olimpiu, but the towering defender
headed over the bar.
Peter Gary Grierson put more pressure
on the visitors, firing twice in the 11th and 12th minutes, only to
see the shots missing the AH United goal by inches.
But DPMM FC had their best chance in
the 27th minute when Saizan Hj Kula found himself in a superb
goal-scoring opportunity, thanks a brilliant Grierson through ball,
but squandered the chance from 5 yards.
The second half continued in the same
disappointing vein, but things spiced up in injury time. AH United had
a K Assleywandi Tamit goal disallowed for offside just before the
final whistle, while a few seconds later Oluseye Ajayi came close to
securing all three points for DPMM FC but his glancing header missed
the target by an inch.
At the Penanjong Camp, ABDB had to
wait until the last 10 minutes of the game to break the Sengkurong
defence, scoring goals through Sardillah Abdullah in the 80th minute;
and two more through Md Hazreen in the 81st and 87th minutes.
The win put ABDB within 4 points of
second-placed AH United. --
