St James's School Launches Science Olympiad 2004
By Cedrina Clark

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Science Department of St James's School in Kuala Belait recently organised a Science Olympiad 2004 for secondary students.

This time around, the quiz was tailored in a new format, which every student from the secondary section took part in.

Unlike other quiz programmes where only a group of students participate, this gave all of them an opportunity to join the event. The quiz was conducted in two rounds, the elimination and speed.

Three winners were finally selected. Debbie Yew Siew Khim of Form Five was the champion while Form Two's Nur Azimatul Quddsyiah Hj Maidin came in second place. Swee Juie Yung from Form Four got third position.

The programme started with opening remarks from Hj Abu Bakar Hj Mohd Paun, Senior Master and School Principal, who gave away the prizes, for which even a new scheme was adopted. Unlike before, students were not awarded trophies but Easi and Net cards instead. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
