New Honda City VTEC Marketed Now
In Brunei
By Lyna Mohamad
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Happy Motoring Co. Sdn Bhd, the sole distributor of
Honda automobiles in the country, yesterday introduced the new Honda
City powered by VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic
Control System) engine at its premises in Gadong.
Compared with the previous Honda City
with the IDSI engine, this new member of the Honda City family has
been given a "facelift" with its external and internal features
redesigned such as the tail lamps, 15" alloy wheels, driver's seat
height adjuster, among others.
The new Honda City model is powered
by a 1.5-litre 16-valve 4-cylinder VTEC engine that yields up to 110PS
at 5,800rpm with a high torque output of 14.6kg/m at 4,800rpm.
The VTEC engine works in synch with
various driving conditions, achieving clean combustion, maximum
horsepower and torque output while at the same time saving fuel
consumption.
Among the most evident features is
the "Steermatic" system that allows the driver to shift gear in manual
style using control buttons on the steering wheel.
Its body is equipped with G-Con
safety technology that absorbs collision force before distributing it
along the safety structure around the car and the safety features
conform to European Standards, one of the world's most stringent
benchmarks.
Safety features include ABS and EBD
(electronic brake force distribution) for abrupt braking power on wet
and slippery road surfaces, dual SRS airbags, headrests to minimise
neck injury and a special nose structure to increase pedestrian safety
are amongst the other safety features in the upgraded Honda City. The
dual SRS airbags in the front works in synch with pre-tensioner
seatbelts and a load limiter system to reduce pressure on the chest.
Designed with a proper short nose
resulting in a narrow turning radius for maximum maneuverability, the
cabin meanwhile is more spacious with all utilities located at the
right places.
Available in four colours, the new
Honda City VTEC is priced at B$25,990 for the manual version and
$26,990 for auto, on the road. --
