Final of Al-Quran Reading Contest
Set For August 2-3

Begwan - The final of the Adult National Level Al-Quran Reading
Competition will be held from August 2 to 3 at the International
Convention Centre in Berakas starting at 7.30pm.
Four male and four female Al-Quran
readers will be competing in the event. The male participants are Awg
Hj Manan bin Hj Osman, Awg Hj Mahrof bin Hj Chuchu, Awg Mohammad bin
Ali and Awg Hj ismail bin Hj Sulaiman.
The female contestants are Dyg Hjh
Sa'adiah bte Hj Hussin, Dyg Hjh Norlaila bte Hj Metussin, Dyg Hjh
Maidah bte Hj Abdul Rahman and Dyg Norezeh bte Hj Md Deli.
The final of the National Level Al-Quran
for Adults is organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The
winner for the male and female categories will represent Brunei at the
International AlQuran Reading Competition that will be held in Kuala
Lumpur, Malaysia.
Contestants for the competition are
reminded that a ceremony for the "Maqra" voting and contestant's turn
will be held this Saturday (July 31) at 2.30 pm at the Third Floor of
the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Jalan Menteri Besar and it is
requested that all participants be present at the ceremony.
In conjunction with the Al-Quran
Reading Competition, a seminar will also be held on understanding the
Al-Quran with the theme `Increase Awareness and Quality of Muslims
Towards the Al-Quran' (Meningkatkan Kesedaran Dan Kualiti Umat Islam
Terhadap Al-Quran).
Organised
by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the seminar will be held on
Tuesday (August 3) at 8 am at the Islamic Dakwah Centre, the Ministry
of Religious Affairs.
Four presentations will be made
during the seminar by the MABIMS member countries.
Among the aims are for the relevant
agencies to play an active role in the contribution towards
self-improvement, the younger generation as well as humanity, to
spread the knowledge and vision of the contents of the Al-Quran and
hope to provide some answers in the many challenges faced by Muslims
in this era of globalisation and modernisation. --
