Development Programme For DST
Managers

Begawan - Thirty-one senior managers of DST Group yesterday
completed the three-day Customised Executive Development Programme
conducted by Asia Inc Forum and Monash Univeristy on `Business Growth
through Innovation'.
The closing ceremony was held at
Empire Hotel and Country Club and the guest of honour was Pehin Dato
Haji Abdullah, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications.
Pehin
Dato Haji Abdullah, in his speech, imparted three important words of
wisdom - perspire, inspire and aspire - where he related anecdotes
from his experience during his service as a senior officer at the
Ministry of Communications.
He said that marketing is a complex
subject that those involved must be aware of constantly and they must
be able to apply marketing strategies not only as a means to its end
but to continuously upgrade their skills and knowledge, responding to
the changing customer needs and technological advancements.
Awang
Saifulbahri Pehin Dato Hj Jaya, Deputy Managing Director of DSTGroup,
in his welcoming remarks, called on the participants to continually be
innovative to stay competitive.
He urged the participants to rise to
the challenges of changing consumer needs, technology and business
growth. He expressed his confidence that DST Group will be able to
respond to effectively.
A foreword was delivered by the guest
speaker or facilitator from Dennis Kiellerup, Monash University.
Pg Hj Md Zin Pg Hj Damit, Managing
Director of DST-Group, in his speech, conveyed his appreciation to
Asia Inc Forum and Monash University for organising and facilitating
the three-day course.
He called on the participants to
wisely apply the knowledge, gained during the course, once they return
to their departments.
The programme was aimed at
acquainting the participants with the principles and skills of
innovation and entrepreneurship and to explore their application to
the development of the corporation.
The participants are taught to become
more familiar with the state of the art thinking concerning the
principles and practices of innovation, entrepreneurship and corporate
development as it applies to DST; understand and explore the values
and principles underpinning the management of DST and understand how
entrepreneurial thinking can be used to great advantage.
It will also allow and encourage
ideas across the total spectrum of people within DST; better
understand the richness of innovation through projects and project
champions thus maximising the possibility of future successes and
profitability for DST and apply the principles and practices to the
planning, development and delivery of real projects.
The programme also dealt with key
aspects of innovation, particularly the need for innovation and its
relationship to the success and profitability of DST. Particular
emphasis was placed on the role of innovators, people, in the total
process of creating an energising workplace culture by developing
ideas that have enormous importance for commercial growth.
Special projects were identified,
project teams were formed and project plans were written.
The closing ceremony concluded with
the presentation of certificates to the 31 participants by the guest
of honour. --
