Brunei Gears Up To Build People’s
Career
Bandar Seri
Begawan – Brunei is gearing up to develop the capability of its
people to curb unemployment in the Sultanate.
This was stressed by Pehin Dato Haji
Suyoi, Deputy Minister of Education, at the launching ceremony of BSP/BLNG/BST
and BSM Career Day.
He said that human resource is
Brunei’s most important asset and this asset should be protected as it
is beneficial in fulfilling the objective and target of the nation's
development.
“If the human resources are not
developed and unproductive, the nation will suffer and its investment
will also be affected especially when many youths are unemployed,” he
said.
Pehin
Dato Haji Suyoi further stated that the unemployment issue, whether it
is caused by the economy or by voluntary reasons, is a national
problem that needs serious attention.
He said unemployment is due to
several factors such as lack of qualification and skills or a very
selective attitude in choosing a job.
“Furthermore, unemployment will give
a bad impact towards the prosperity of the community as well as the
nation's safety,” he added.
Fifteen booths were set up with the
objective of promoting employment opportunities as well as calling for
more Bruneians to build their career with the companies.
Members of the public can obtain
information regarding the companies' recruitment procedures,
particularly those involved in the graduate recruitment schemes.
The Career Day will be open until
this Saturday from 9am until 5pm at Level 7, Centrepoint in Gadong.
