Local Poets To Participate In 10th World Poem Recital in KL

Bandar Seri Begawan - Some 35 foreign poets including those from Brunei Darussalam will join 17 prolific poets at the 10th KL World Poem Recital (PPDKL 2004) to be held on August 16 to 22 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Pengiran Dato Paduka Dr Muhammad Ahd Rahman is set to participate in the event together with established poets.

Among the renowned poets expected to join are Prof Dr Pedro J de la Pena from Spain, Dr Germain Droogenbroodt (Belgium), Albert Ostermaier (Germany), Mark 0 Connor (Australia) and Kazuko Shiraishi (Japan).

Foreign poets will be allowed to recite the poems in their own languages but translations must be made available to the audience.

The KL World Poem Recital, which commenced in 1986, has found a place in the map of poem reciting and would be achieving similar status such as those in Rotterdam and Adelaide by 2006. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
