Diplomats In Brunei Honour Sultan
At Birthday Banquet

Begawan – His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Sultan of
Brunei, and Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha attended
a function in honour of His Majesty's 58th Birthday anniversary
organised by heads of Diplomatic Missions in the country on Tuesday
night.
Members of the organising committee
greeted His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei and Her Majesty the Raja Isteri
on arrival and were introduced to the heads of diplomatic missions. To
date Brunei hosts 24 diplomatic missions.
Also present were His Royal Highness
the Crown Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, His Royal Highness
Prince Mohammed Bolkiah and Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri
Pengiran Anak Hajah Zariah and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna.
The Dean of Diplomatic Corps and High
Commissioner of Pakistan to Brunei, Mr Badr-ur-Deen, in his welcoming
remark expressed the diplomatic corps gratitude and appreciation.
The diplomats appreciated the
privilege given to bolster the sense of togetherness they felt to be
included in most of the traditional occasions of the country.
At the ceremony, His Majesty cut the
birthday cake in honour of His Majesty's 58th birthday.
The Diplomatic Missions in the country
also presented a souvenir to His Majesty.
Meanwhile, His Majesty the Sultan of
Brunei received in audience Tan Sri Jamil bin Johari, the outgoing
Malaysian High Commissioner to Brunei, yesterday at the Istana Nurul
Iman.
Tan Sri Jamil had been in Brunei since June 2003.
Also present during the audience was Pehin Dato
Awang Haji Yahya, the Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's
Office. --
