Twenty-four Tutong primary school
teachers recently completed a series of workshops on 'Effective
Classroom Management' at the Tutong Department of Schools.
The workshops, which were conducted
by Cikgu Hjh Aminah binti Matzen, a Senior Education Officer at the
Professional Section of the Department of Schools, aimed to help young
qualified teachers establish and improve their classroom management
i.e. making them effective teachers.
The workshop gave participants a
detailed approach on organising lessons, promoting a positive
atmosphere in classrooms, developing realistic expectations of pupils'
performance and making appropriate use of rewards and punishments.
The workshop also highlighted the
four simple rules of effective classroom management: 'Get them in, Get
them out, Get on with it, and Get on with them'.
Every participant had to present a
report on the management styles of their classrooms such as pupils'
seating arrangements and teaching resources used.
The presentation of certificates by
the Assistant Director of Primary School would be held at a later
date.
