World Squash Seeded Players In Final Round

Bandar Seri Begawan - Madeline Perry, Rebecca Chiu, Annelize Naude and Tania Bailey all four seeded players of the qualifying round made it into the final round of the Brunei International Squash Women's Open 2004 after overpowering their opponents at the JPCC yesterday.

Madeline Perry ranked No. 17 in the world and top seed in the qualifying round defeated Latasha Khan (5th seed) 9-6, 96, 9-6 in 52 minutes.

Rebecca Chiu, the world No. 18 and ranked third in the qualifying round easily beat Tegwen Malik of Wales 9-5, 92 and 9-0 in just 29 minutes.

In the third qualifying match-up, Annelize Naude upset the fourth seed of the qualifying round Pamela Nimmo 9-5, 9-2 and 9-2 to proceed into the final round of the tournament

Tania Bailey seeded No.2 in the qualifying round snatched the last spot into the final round with a hard-fought 6-9, 9-6, 79, 9-4, 9-5 win over Tamsyn Leevey.

The four qualifiers will meet with tougher opponents in the final round today where they will meet either Rachel Grinham world No. 2 player, Rebecca Macree world No. 9, Jenny Tranfield world No. 1 I or Nicol David world No.8.

Squash enthusiasts will eagerly await the battle of the two sisters - Rachael Grinham and Natalie Grinham - if they proceed to the semifinals.
