Bring Conmen In Luxury Car And Pyramid Scams To Justice
By Rosli Abidin Yahya

Bandar Seri Begawan - Several high-profile cases involving the alleged loss of money of several million dollars by some members of the population needs to be solved urgently, an observer said.

A retired government officer, Hj Mohd Zaide bin Hj Damit, said the alleged fraud cases such as the pyramid scheme, Umrah travel and luxury car scam must be solved immediately to uphold justice.

"At present, the alleged conmen or masterminds are still free. Victims surely want their money back but they also want justice to be done and the masterminds brought to court," he said.

He added that if such cases could not be solved, it should be made known publicly that the cases have been closed due to lack of evidence or for whatever reasons.

In one of the biggest alleged fraud case, victims lost millions of dollars when the pyramid scheme they invested in went bust. Some of them were still paying personal loans taken to participate in the said scheme.

Hj Mohd Zaide added that close to a thousand Muslims were also allegedly cheated by a travel company of over a million dollars for the Umrah journeys that never took place.

"In the luxury car scam, many victims are still waiting for their cash to be fully refunded after paying more than half a million dollars for dream cars that were never delivered.

"By bringing these masterminds to justice, this could deter potential conmen from carrying out more fraudulent schemes in the country," he said. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
