ISSF Participants Told To Put
Knowledge To Good Use
By Lyna Mohamad
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Participants of the 4th Islamic Solidarity Sports
Federation (ISSF) Sports Medicine and Anti-Doping (SMAD) Course are
urged to put their knowledge to good use by offering their services at
the 1st Islamic Solidarity Games to be held in the Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia next year.
Dr Mohammad S. Gazdar,
Secretary-General of ISSF, said this at the closing ceremony for the
course yesterday.
He added that participants should
take this opportunity to share their knowledge with others through the
presentation of research papers, allocation of more practical sessions
and even the possible creation of an ISSF scholarship programme, a
quadrennial scientific congress or an international ISSF award.
Awg
Japar Bangkol, Chairman of the Organising Committee of the 4th ISSF
Sports Medicine Course, said that the course, which is the first of
its kind to be organised in the country, marked a milestone on the
long road of attainment and accomplishments that Brunei embarked on
many years ago.
Since then, the nation has
accomplished its mission of promoting sports medicine not only here,
but regionally and internationally as well.
A total of 70 delegates from over 20
English and Arabic speaking countries attended the course, which was
being held for the first time in Southeast Asia. It provided an ideal
platform for participants to establish closer bonds of friendship and
Islamic brotherhood for future interaction.
Awg
Japar Bangkol applauded Dr Mohammad S. Gazdar and his able team for
championing the mission of education and youth development in Islamic
countries by promoting sports and sports science.
He expressed confidence that under
the dynamic and vibrant leadership of HRH Prince Sultan bin Fahad bin
Abdul Aziz, Chairman of the Federation, more feats will be conquered
and more avenues of broader interaction will surface. --
