Armed Forces fetes His Majesty

The Royal Brunei Armed Forces paid a birthday tribute to His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Saturday night, at a banquet held at the Assaraa Hall.

His Majesty and Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pg Anak Hjh Saleha were greeted upon arrival by the Deputy Minister of Defence, Pengiran Sanggamara Diraja Retired Major General Pengiran Haji Ibnu Ba'sith; Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Major General Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi; Permanent Secretary (Policy and Administration), Pehin Datu Singamenteri Colonel (L) Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yasmin bin Haji Umar and other senior officers of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.

Also in attendance were His Royal Highness the Crown Prince General Pg Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Abdul Azim, His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Malik and His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Mateen.

Other members of the royal family who also attended the banquet were Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Umi Kalthum Al-Islam and other members of the royal family.

Upon their arrival, the National Anthem was sung by the RBAF choir.

Prior to the commencement of the banquet, His Majesty consented to cut a birthday cake as well as to receive a 'pasambah' in the form of an ancient copy of the Al-Quran, which originated from Pakistan, written by the country's writer dating back to 1100 H, presented by the Commander of RBAF.

At the ceremony, His Majesty consented to meet and greet officers of the RBAF.
