It would be in line with its goals to
strengthen Islamic solidarity among youths in member states and
promote the Islamic identity in the field of sports, and to inculcate
the principles of non-discrimination with regards to religion, race or
class in conformity with the precepts of Islam.
The Prince who is the president of
the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council declared open the 4th
Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation and the sports medicine and
anti-doping course.
The course began yesterday and will
end on Wednesday.
It is jointly organised by the Brunei
Darussalam National Olympic council and the Organisation of the
Islamic Conference.
The organization of the 4th sports
medicine and anti-doping course has a new format and for the first
time will come under the ISSF sports medicine and anti-doping
committee which has taken over the responsibility of organizing and
supervising the series of sports medicine and anti-doping courses.
The course will help sports
officials, sportswomen and sports men, and increase public awareness
on the issue of doping in sports.
Meanwhile, youth potentials and
capabilities are the treasures of the nation and their strong
aspiration provides a sound base for their contributions to the
country's advancement.
However, Muslim youths have been
subjected to many challenges and threats as addressed by the
Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) in its quest to find the
means to protect the youths.
The Islamic Solidarity Sports
Federation, ISSF was established in 1981 to serve the needs of the OIC
member countries in all aspects of sports.
The federation comprises the 57 OIC
member countries.
The goals of the federation are to
reinforce the bonds of unity, amity and brotherhood among youths of
member states.
It is also to make them aware of the
OIC objectives, to unite positions in Olympic international and
continental conferences and meetings; to cooperate with all the
international and continental sports bodies and organizations; to
preserve the sports principles and to promote the Olympic sports
movement in the Muslim world.
The ISSF has published a book on
sports medicine and anti-doping in Arabic, French and English.
