Kelantan TNB Beats Brunei In Premier League

Shah Alam - Kelantan TNB continued their recent revival in the Premier League with a convincing 4-1 victory over former Malaysia Cup winner, Brunei in a Group A match at the UTM Mini Stadium here Wednesday, Bernama reported.

Kelantan TNB, unbeaten in seven matches took a 2-0 lead in the first half through an own goal by Irwan Muhammad (26th minute) and Mohammad Badri Rozi in the 36th minute.

Brunei, which started the match in sixth place against the fifth placed Kelantan TNB, reduced the deficit with a Subhi Abdillah Bakir goal in the 54th minute.

However, veteran Cik Hisamudin Hassan killed off Brunei's fightback with a brace in the 87th and 90th minutes.

The win gave Kelantan TNB 35 points from 11 wins, two draws and seven loses while Brunei's position remained unchanged.

Meanwhile in Alor Setar on Tuesday night, Kedah earned themselves a huge lifeline in their battle against relegation in the Super League with a 3-2 victory in a bottom-of-the-table clash with Sarawak at the Darulaman Stadium.

But they first had to live through a scare after taking a 2-0 lead. Three goals in the final 10 minutes of the match set up a frantic finish.

A Marcos Magno header in the 19th minute and Akmal Rizal's double strike in the 56th and 82nd minutes ensured the Canaries closed the gap on the East Malaysians to one point with just five matches remaining in the season. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
