Be On The Alert During Celebrations
By Achong Tanjong

Bandar Seri Begawan - Motorists in the country are urged to drive carefully at all times to ensure that road safety is not compromised.

This call was made in view of the heavy traffic flowing into the capital for the nightly celebrations held in conjunction with His Majesty's 58th birthday. Motorists and pedestrians alike were reminded to be on the alert at all times to ensure that no accidents or any untoward incidents happen.

Police personnel also urged members of the public to carefully lock up their houses before leaving and to inform their neighbours to keep an eye on their house. Car owners were also reminded to lock their cars and not to leave any important belongings inside.

They were also reminded to only park at designated parking areas to avoid any mishaps.

The police also stressed that traffic rules must be followed at all times and that law enforcement officials were on the lookout to ensure that the country is free from any criminal activities during the celebrations.

Meanwhile, as part of the celebrations, there will be a Battle of the Bands competition on July 27 at the Taman Jubilee Perak, in the capital. The competition is organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports in conjunction with the celebration. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
