Tutong District Overcomes Nature's
Fury
By Helwa
Tutong
Town - The Organising Committee of the get-together ceremony in
the Tutong District on Sunday faced a minor glitch as strong winds
brought down some of the tents that were erected for the event.
The event, which is scheduled to take
place this Thursday, will be the final get-together session between
His Majesty and his subjects.
However, members of the organising
committee came out in force and with help from various uniformed
agencies they re-erected the tents and cleaned up the mess in no time.
Unfortunately, a staff of the Tutong
District Office had to be rushed to Pengiran Muda Mahkota al-Muhtadee
Billah Hospital as he sustained injuries when a signboard fell on him
due to the gust.
The strong winds, which occurred at
about 1pm, affected a number of staff from the Tutong District Office,
Tutong Municipal Board as well as a handful of members of the
organising committee who were at work.
Acting Tutong District Officer, Awang
Abdul Mutalip Hj Mohd Idris, who was also at the venue, reportedly
accompanied the injured man to the hospital.
As soon as the strong winds died
down, 42 members of the2n' Battalion of the Royal Brunei Land Forces
in collaboration with 20 fire personnel led by ASO Mohd Ali Hassan got
the collapsed tents back in shape. --
