Chance for photographers to snap
up cash prizes in contest

Aspiring photographers will be able
to demonstrate their creativity and photo-taking prowess by
participating in a photography competition and side event of the
Seminar and Exhibition on Masjid Wadah Kempimpinan Raja at the
International Convention Centre in Berakas from next July 19 to 25.
Organised
by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka Brunei Darussalam, Pusat Dakwah Islamiah
and Jabatan Hal-Ehwal Masjid, the seminar and exhibition as well as
its side event, the photography competition, are held to commemorate
His Majesty The Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's 58th
Birthday.
Co-secretary of its organising
committee, Dyg Aminah Hj Momin, said that the contest is open to all
citizens and permanent residents. "The closing date will be on July 15
at 5 pm and prospective participants must send two copies of 8R size
photographs that depict mosque activities.
"All photos must carry a caption, the
best of which will also receive prize," she said, adding that winning
photographs will be exhibited at the ICC and the prize presentation
will be conducted in August 2004.
Winners of the contest will get
B$700, while runners-up are going to receive $500 and second
runners-up $300. Five consolation prizes of $100 each will also be
offered, while the best caption for a photograph shall receive $200.
