Bait Treatment System Introduced
To Control Termites
By Tony Alabastro
Bandar Seri
Begawan - A Termite Baiting Station detects and bars termite
activity from invading the home, said Brunei's only ISO-certified pest
control company.
"Our mission is to develop, market
and deliver high quality services to secure a clean, safe, healthy,
productive and comfortable environment for work and leisure," said
Jose F. Robles III, Managing Director, ISS Thomas Cowan Sdn Bhd.
The bait treatment system controls
subterranean termites, which live in soil colonies and enter houses in
search of wood-based food, said the company.
It detects termite activity around
the property and structure. The bait, a stomach poison, works by not
converting food into energy.
When the worker termites die, the
queen and the soldier termites starve. The colony cannot feed itself,
and it dies.
A termite toxicant bait stake will
kill 10,000 to 30,000 termites within 60 to 90 days. It will take 20
termite stakes to kill the average 250,000-termite colony.
Termites do not live in houses, and
must constantly return to the ground for moisture and food supply for
the colony.
They enter the house unseen through
electrical conduit, and cracks and opening around plumbing walls, said
the pest control company, which provides the bait treatment system.
