Local Mobile Network Launches
'WondeRing' Service
By Maya Salleh
Bandar Seri
Begawan - The mobile telecommunication services in the country
yesterday saw the launch of another ingenious service dubbed as the "WondeRing".
Awg
Hj Mohd Rozan bin Dato Paduka Hj Mohd Yunos, Senior Administrative
Officer at the Prime Minister's Office and guest of honour, officiated
the launch ceremony held at the Sheraton Utama Hotel in the capital.
Also present were Awg Saifulbahri
Pehin Dato Hj Jaya, Deputy Managing Director of DST Group, Heads of
Unit of DST-Group and some prominent figures from both local and
overseas companies.
The ceremony commenced with a
foreword delivered by Mr Wong Chin Toon, Managing Director of Green
City Concept Sdn Bhd, who briefly described the unique features of the
"WondeRing" service.
The service, Mr Wong explained, is a
personalised "caller tune" also known as "ring back tone".
The service enables the caller to
hear a distinctive sound such as a favourite song tune or even a
unique voice' through the mobile phone instead of the standard ring
tones.
Subscribers can choose one tune for
all incoming calls, or random play from a few selected tones, or even
assign specific tones for different callers.
The foreword by Mr. Wong was followed
by a remark delivered by the guest of honour in which he lauded the "WondeRing"
service as what he saw would be part of the new technology of
tomorrow.
He also stated that it marked the
beginning of the realisation of the extent of the power of mobile
phones which can affect a third party and not just the user.
To register, users only need to dial
123 which bear a charge of B$0.50 per minute, with a monthly
subscription fee of $5. Each tone is charged at $3.00 per download.
"WondeRing" service is now available
for all Prima subscribers and will be available for
Easi
users in the coming months. --
