Malaysian Woman Fined $2,000 For
Gaming

Begawan - A Malaysian woman was fined $2,000 in default one
month imprisonment by the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate's Court
yesterday after she pleaded guilty to assisting in collecting 10,000
characters public lottery tickets (4-Digit).
The defendant, Soh Swe Kim, could be
jailed up to a maximum of 12 months and fined a maximum of $20,000.
The Police Prosecutor said 8 pieces
of betting slips containing 4-Digit numbers with B$108 and RMIO cash,
a piece of paper containing entries of 4-Digit numbers, a telephone, a
fax machine, 2 calculators and 2 ball pens were found in the
defendant’s house during the raid.
Some of the items were found on the
defendant.
A team of CID personnel raided the
house at No. 4, Junction 177 in Kg Tungku, on April 22, 2000 after
receiving information from the public on gaming activities.
The seized items were referred to a
gaming expert who confirmed they amounted to evidence of a
`collector', the prosecutor said. --
