Electrical Dept Grabs Tenpin Bowling Championship Crown

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Electrical Department emerged as the overall 2004 winners in the Ministry of Development's Tenpin Bowling Championship and walked away with the Setia Pahlawan challenge trophy.

In second place was the Land Department while the Survey Department finished third.

Prizes were presented by Pehin Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Ahmad bin Haji Jumat, Development Minister, on Monday night.

The minister presented the challenge trophy for the tournament.

The 5-day competition was divided into five categories.

In the Limited Category, the Electrical Department bowled their way to the top prize, followed by the Survey Department and the Land Department in second and third spots respectively.

The Electrical Department also won in the Men's Team Open, pushing the Land Department into second and the Housing `B' team into third.

Men's High Game was won by Hj Adanan Hj Sidis with 221 pinfalls in his first game, while the Men's High Series was won by Hj Yakub Abu Bakar with a total of 795 pinfalls.

The Survey Department won the Women's Team Open with the Land Department once again in second place and the Electrical Department in third. Mastura Ahmad won the Women's High Game with 200 pinfalls and Hj Ardiah Hj Sarbini won the Women's High Series with 671 pinfalls altogether.

Budiman Hj Ibrahim won the Men's Graded Masters, while second was Md Said Hj Bakar and third was Hj Yakub Abu Bakar. Budiman was also the winner in the Men's High Game in this category, with 289 pinfalls.

The Women's Graded Masters winner was Hjh Jarah Hj Sulaiman followed by Hjh Ardiah in second place and Dk Hjh Nadiah Pg Hj Jaafar in third. Hjh Jarah also took home the Women's High Game trophy for the category with a score of 189 pinfalls.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
