Great Brunei Challenge Open For All Racers

Bandar Seri Begawan - Registration is now open to those interested in participating in the Great Brunei Challenge, which is scheduled to be held on August 1, 2004.

It is one of the activities held in conjunction with the National Health Promotion Convention, which is organised by the Ministry of Health and coordinated by the Youth and Sports Department.

The race, which comprises a mountain bike race and a marathon, will start at 7.30 am at the construction site of Mata-Mata housing resettlement area in Gadong and will end at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas. It is open to those aged 16 years and above.

Entry forms for the race are available on the 6th floor of the Youth and Sports Department and its branches in all four districts.

The closing date for entry will be on July 19, 2004.

Meanwhile, other activities arranged to mark the National Health Promotion Convention include aerobic exercises, a Shahbandar marathon, a walkathon and netball competitions.

The winner of the Great Brunei Challenge will walk away with $2,000 cash while the winner of the Shahbandar marathon will receive a cash prize of $1,000. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
