Police Round Up 27 Foreign Workers
In Major Raid

Begawan - In what seemed to be the largest joint operation,
some 153 enforcement personnel on Tuesday night carried out crime
prevention raids, targeting mostly the quarters of the foreign workers
around Mukim Sengkurong and Mukim Pengkalan Batu.
Ten sites were checked including
foreign workers quarters in Kg. Jerudong, Kg. Tanjong Nangka, Kg.
Kupang and construction sites at Kg. Katimahar, Kg. Tanjong Nangka,
Kg. Junjungan, Bengkurong Masin, Jin Pulau Kubu and Spg 396-53-86,
both in Jerudong.
The operation entitled "Ops Bedudun
3' began at 10.35pm and lasted about two hours.
Thirty-one police personnel from
Sengkurong and Limau Manis police stations led by the OCPD of the
Jerudong Police District, 32 Immigration Enforcement Officers led by
its head, 11 Labour officers led by the Head of Work Dispute and
Investigation and 23 Royal Brunei Customs and Excise officers were
involved in the operation.
Also taking part in the operation
were 17 officers from the Narcotics Control Bureau led by Narcotic 1
Head, 14 Religious Enforcement Officers and 23 officers from the Land
Transport Department led by the Acting Head of the Enforcement.
During the operation, 27 foreign
workers were arrested and brought to the Sengkurong police station for
failing to show valid travel documents. --
